The Art of War Strategy Card Deck is a companion to the Sun Tzu classic The Art of War. The deck organizes Sun Tzu’s maxims and insights into four suits: Preparation of Self, Preparation of the Field of Contest, Isolation, and Elimination. The heart suit involves shaping yourself, e.g. “create something from nothing.” The club suit involves shaping the field of contest, e.g. “stand back and watch the fires burn.” The diamond suit involves isolating something, e.g. “tempt your adversary with a way out.” The spade suit involves eliminating something, e.g.“incapacitate the leadership.” On every card there is a strategy and a basis. For example, the maxim “Create something from nothing”lists the strategy as “demonstrate your willingness to bluff so your adversary doubts your real actions” and the basis as “an adversary that doubts the reality of your actions may leave your initiatives unchallenged.”
